Perceptions Towards the Effectiveness of E-Learning in Private and Public Universities in Uganda: A Comparative Study

Abstract

Prompted by Covid-19's disruption of university education in Uganda, this quantitative cross-sectional study investigated student and lecturer perceptions of e-learning effectiveness in private and public universities. Two-sample t-tests revealed significant differences in perceptions between students (p < 0.05) and between lecturers (p < 0.05) at private vs. public universities, better explained by institutional readiness to adopt e-learning. The study recommends universities acquire the necessary ICT infrastructure, make e-learning easily accessible, and continuously train students and lecturers in e-learning methodologies.
